The Potsdamer Platz quarter is free of above-ground delivery traffic and, with this, takes up an exceptional position in the centre of Berlin. Car parks and incoming goods points are arranged below ground. This ensures that tenants are not annoyed by the normal delivery traffic. The buildings are supplied via the supply centre on the 3rd basement, which boasts its own entrance connected to the B 96 road tunnel. Goods are transported below ground to individual buildings by electric vehicles or pallet trucks.
Refuse is also collected at a central point and involves sorting waste into a total of 13 different categories. Apart from sorting the glass, paper and packaging as is usual, other materials, like treated and untreated wood, foil, food remains, cooking oil and polystyrene, are also sorted and disposed of separately. This strict refuse control makes sure that only exactly sorted waste leaves the quarter.
