New National Gallery

Museum of 20th and 21st Century Art

The New National Gallery (Neue Nationalgalerie), part of the Kulturforum Berlin at Potsdamer Platz, is primarily dedicated to 20th and 21st century art. Opened in 1968, the building was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and is considered a prime example of classic modern architecture. The collection includes paintings and sculptures from the classic modern period up to the 1960s, with works from Contructivism, Cubism and Dada as well as Bauhaus painting and German Expressionism. Due to restoration work on the entire building, the extensive collection is closed to the public for the next few years. The New National Gallery is expected to reopen in 2020.
