Where railways once crossed near Potsdamer Platz, visitors now find a landscaped urban park that captures the spirit of reunified Berlin. The modern architecture of Potsdamer Platz meets 19th century industrial and transportation facilities here as well as international and national guests of the capital and native Berliners.
Fragrant highlight is the intercultural Rose Garden. Those seeking more action will appreciate the Nature Experience Area for urban kids and the numerous playgrounds dotting the landscape. Skaters can try out one of the most extensive bowl-scapes in the city, while the rest of the area offers more than enough space for runners, table tennis players and yoga friends to follow their pursuits.
The park was awarded the German Landscape Architecture Prize 2015 for outstanding achievement in combining creative aesthetic solutions with ecological aims, from concept and construction to detail planning.
