Stars, Starlets and the Silver Screen

Since 2000, Potsdamer Platz has been the main venue of the Berlin International Film Festival. The Theater at Potsdamer Platz dresses up as the “Berlinale Palast” for this gala affair, rolling out the red carpet for international stars of the silver screen. Each year the public and the jury are presented more than 400 films at the Berlinale. The largest public festival of its kind in the world, it attracts close to 500,000 film fans to the German capital.

Most of the screenings at the Berlinale Palast and CinemaxX at Potsdamer Platz are world and European premières. Film buffs can choose from among all genres and formats. During the Berlinale, the entire city catches film fever – in cinemas throughout Berlin, a wide array of special events take place.
