“ARCHITECTURE IS A BRIDGE BETWEEN EARTH AND AIR.”
Renzo Piano, Architect
Italian Renzo Piano is one of the most influential and well known architects in the world. He developed the masterplan for the Potsdamer Platz district of Berlin in the early 1990s. Piano is the brains behind EICHHORNSTRAßE 3, POTSDAMER PLATZ 11 and premium residential buildings Primeo and Parklane.
His other prestigious works include the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the New York Times Tower and The Shard in London. A recurring theme of his designs is transparency and an elaborate dialogue between materials such as glass, steel, terracotta and stone. Piano’s interest in and respect for history, his surroundings, people and nature form a harmonising presence in his buildings.
